I (Callie) was driving down the highway one afternoon in February 2022 when it hit me – BUBBLES. I’m always trying to think of unique themes for wedding day decor and for some reason, bubbles came to me. Sam and I talked about how we could make this random vision a reality, and we already knew we needed a headshot and branding session, so why not turn it into a whole styled shoot?
Over the next few months, we began to gather our vendor team and then it hit us – why don’t we add some bridal models into the mix? This way we could also get some stunning photos of brides interacting with our designs. Adding models also meant we could work with one of our favorite new bridal shops in Greenville, Opal Bride.
As we got closer to the shoot, we thought, why not ALSO add in TWO tablescapes? Instead of doing two different bubble-themed tablescapes, we decided to design a table that fit our new brand colors of blue and yellow and added a pop of colorful whimsy that complemented the bubble-themed tablescape – same design family, different vibe.
Gathering the details together for our models and both tablescapes included a detailed search through Etsy and local SC vendors to see who could provide the best and most unique elements to elevate our designs.
Our goal for the styled shoot was to showcase both sides of our design aesthetic – modern & classic vs. whimsical & playful. Our ideal Toujours bride loves the elegant vibe of white and green florals and decor but has a soft spot for pops of color in unique details and iconic statement pieces throughout their wedding day. Many of our brides fall on one side or the other. They either love all white and green, or they want alllllll the colors. Our dream is for clients to find us who want to push the boundaries and think about wedding colors and themes from a unique perspective.
When most brides hear the word “theme,” they cringe. Typically, our first thought when we hear that word is a gaudy circus, an over-the-top unicorn theme, or trashy, cheap birthday party decor from our childhood birthday parties. We’re here to argue that a wedding theme can be classy and elevated when executed correctly.
A theme doesn’t have to be a kid’s TV show or a fictional animal. Some wedding themes we’re crazy about are safari, Bridgerton-inspired, Moroccan, icy/winter wonderland, desert chic, garden party, Gatsby-inspired, pastel, art-deco, modern art, sculpture & fine art, literary, citrus, classic romance, classic traditional, and preppy – the list goes on and on! There are SO many creative themes to explore for your wedding day. You don’t have to confine your theme to whatever your venue likes + your 2 favorite colors. Get imaginative with it!
That being said, we searched for decor that embodied the essence of bubbles for our bubble-themed design. The theme of bubbles translated into every detail, from the bubble-beaded chargers, bubbly candleholders, & glass globes delicately hanging over the table, to the literal cascade of bubbles we had floating down from the ceiling.
The florals at both tablescapes also illustrated both themes through the arrangement styles and placement. Kait with La Lune Floral Co. took our 2 tablescape visions and built beautifully blooming masterpieces that elevated the themes and decor elements we selected and put together.
We finished the day with bridal portraits of our models, because who doesn’t love a good bridal portrait? Our models, Abby, Anna, and Jae were perfect at showing off the gorgeous dresses and accessories we selected and rented from Opal Bride.
Each model’s bouquet also had a different correlating theme. Abby’s bouquet was reminiscent of the fairytale/Toujours’ brand colors tablescape. Jae’s bouquet was inspired by the bubble tablescape, and we gave Kait full creative freedom for Anna’s bouquet. We love what Kait came up with, too! We certainly haven’t seen a gradient, ombre bridal bouquet before!
The entire shoot was hosted at Whitewall Studios in Taylors, SC, and shot by Rainsford Photography. We are so proud of how each vendor team came together to bring our vision to life. We can’t wait for our next styled shoot!
