As wedding planners, we know that unexpected weather, such as a rainy wedding day, can bring both nerves and ambiance to a wedding day. When Michael Todd and Cara’s Pine House wedding on May 3, 2025, faced a forecast full of storm clouds, our team at Toujours Events began problem solving. We didn’t let the rainy weather dampen the celebration! Instead, we leaned into the romantic atmosphere. We helped transform the day into something truly magical, showing that a rainy wedding day can be enchanting.
The entire weekend brought steady rain showers. Because of this, we spent both the day before and the morning of the wedding sweeping water out of the pavilion. We waited until the last minute to place outdoor decor. Additionally, we spent the morning brainstorming ideas for how to shift guests around if the rain persisted. A rainy wedding day requires thinking on your feet!
Just as guests began arriving for the outdoor ceremony, a light drizzle began. We invited guests to stay sheltered in their cars or under the spacious porches of the venue. Meanwhile, those arriving by shuttle remained comfortably on board until we were ready for seating. Though the ceremony started a few minutes late, we took every precaution to keep guests and the wedding party safe and comfortable. We placed clear umbrellas on each chair for guests to use if another sprinkle appeared, and our team made sure to dry every chair before anyone was seated. At last, the rain stopped, and our beautiful bride walked down the aisle to her forever on this memorable rainy wedding day.
As previously mentioned, we came prepared with a solid backup plan. For cocktail hour, we made a plan to use standing umbrellas in case the rain persisted, since the patio where guests mingled wasn’t covered. For the reception, the buffet was already set up inside. We were able to pull the tables and chairs into the center of the pavilion until the rain calmed enough to get things back into position. Thankfully, the weather gave us a brief reprieve, and guests were able to enjoy this portion of the evening without a single drop!
As for photos, the cloudy day provided the perfect lighting for our photo and video team. The Pine House boasts beautiful porches that we were able to utilize for outdoor photos. There are also beautifully curated rooms throughout the venue that our bride and bridesmaids used for the dress reveal and group photos. As for the groomsmen, the venue has a separate Groom’s suite on site. It served as a rustic and moody backdrop for the guys’ photos. Even with the pre-wedding rain, plenty of spaces were available to produce a stunning album on this rainy wedding day.
Even with torrential downpours earlier in the day and showers right before the ceremony, everything flowed effortlessly. The design held beautifully, the joy was contagious, and our sweet couple danced the night away. Indeed, this proved that sometimes, a little rain on your wedding day just makes the magic shine brighter.
After all, you know what they say about rain on your wedding day!
